The South Kortright Central School is a centralized school district serving approximately 380 children from the towns of South Kortright, Stamford, Harpersfield, Bovina, and Meredith. The area is rural and agrarian in nature. The school and campus are nestled in a lovely valley of the West Branch of the Delaware River on the north western edge of the Catskill Mountains, approximately 15 miles north of Delhi and 5 miles south of Stamford on State Highway Route 10. The School building has recently undergone a renovation of the Elementary Wing and the construction of a new Technology and Art Wing which was completed in the summer of 2005.

The area has excellent opportunities for year-round outdoor recreation featuring numerous hiking, biking, and cross country ski trails; an abundance of wildlife for nature lovers and those who enjoy hunting and fishing; several ski slopes, numerous community activities, and a local theater group which uses the school’s own Harbaugh Hall for its practices and performances. Oneonta is less than a 30 minute drive from South Kortright and is the home to SUNY Oneonta and Hartwick College which provide a variety of educational and cultural opportunities. Albany is a little more than an hour and Binghamton is about a 90 minute drive from South Kortright on scenic Interstate 88.
