3	What’s Happening In Darfur genocide is happening. Between 200,000 and 500,000 people are dead and 2,500,000 refugees. The conflict started in 2003-present. The conflict has many interwoven causes. It includes the Sudanese government, the Janjaweed and black Christians
4	What’s Happening cont. The refugee camps are packed and there is little food. The Janjaweed attacks villages and farms. The villagers burn the farms and animals so that the janjaweed can’t take them for themselves. The rebels fight back but they can’t maintain an army because they are untrained, under armed and unsupported. The Janjaweed is supported by the government even though it denies this.

9	People’s Lives cont. People starve everyday. The children in Darfur don’t have toys and games to play with like most kids in America. They don’t even have the security of a home.
10	People’s Lives cont. The refugee camps are the only thing the people have for security. The food is scarce. Some of the food is contaminated and inedible.
11	Comparison of Darfur to America Poverty in America is greatly different from poverty in Darfur because the poor in America have a home decent clothes, food, all of the basic needs for American life. The people of Darfur have nothing but their families.

22	Fundraising This year we’ll be trying to get a fundraiser going. These fund will go toward buying or building a solar oven. (whichever is cheaper) The funds will also go toward food for the refugee camps in Darfur.
