New Superintendent - Douglas Wyant

SOUTH KORTRIGHT CENTRAL SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION SELECTS NEW SUPERINTENDENT

 

At their meeting on Thursday, September 1, 2022, the South Kortright Central School Board of Education appointed Doug Wyant as the district’s next Superintendent of Schools. Mr. Wyant will assume his new role on September 12, 2022.

 

Board President, Mrs. Terri Chichester, shared the board’s gratitude toward ONC BOCES’ District Superintendent and search facilitator, Dr. Catherine Huber, for “taking the time to really understand what we were looking for in our next leader.” Mrs. Chichester commented that the South Kortright Central School Board of Education is “very excited to welcome Doug to our SK family and are looking forward to his contribution in maintaining the outstanding traditions and overwhelming support from the community of our amazing school.”

Mr. Wyant began his career as an educator in 1989 as a science teacher. He has 20 years of experience as a school administrator, most recently as a Superintendent of Schools at Hornell City School District. Mr. Wyant also spent several years as the Educational and Facilities Planner for Tetra Tech Architects & Engineers.

Mr. Wyant earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Geneseo State University and his Master’s Degree from Brockport State University.

Mr. Wyant expressed his excitement to become a member of the South Kortright school and community. He looks forward to meeting with students, staff and community members to learn about the “history of the district, their vision for the future and how we can partner to achieve our goals.” Mr. Wyant thanked the Board of Education and Dr. Huber for “engaging conversations during the interview process and involving staff and community in the development of the selection criteria.”
